Born in East Berlin 1981 Fritz Kalkbrenner was deeply impressed by the mid 90s Berlin Techno. In 2008 he started to work with his brother Paul on "Sky & Sand" for the legendary movie "Berlin Calling". Afterwards Fritz made his own soulful and deep electronic music. His debut album „Here Today Gone Tomorrow” was released in 2010 on Suol with great feedback. With that response he started playing live and delivered his first Top10 album „Sick Travellin’” in 2012. With him singing on „Get a Life” or „Little by Little” Fritz Kalkbrenner created singles which made their way to radio. It took him two more years for his next Top 10 album „Ways over Water” and his single success „Back Home” which got massive airplay and reached the German Top 20. He came back to Berlin after many liveshows with lots of ideas to do new music which got released in 2016 as „Grand Départ”. Out on Suol the 4th album went again Top 10 and putted him in the top league of electronic music artists. After impressive TV broadcasts Fritz needed a new direction. He headed back to underground House music which resulted in the epic 2018 „Drown” album. This led to the next step for Fritz Kalkbrenner by starting his own label „Nasua Music” early 2019. For this he started producing fresh music with a new crew of talented people. In 2020 he released his 6th studio album „True Colours“. "King Curtis" a pure instrumental followed in 2021. Fall 2022, the new single "In the Morning" is released.

Sometimes music is all about the numbers, and when Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary) and Apparat (Sascha Ring) come together as one, a brilliant new entity is brought into the world: Moderat. It was in 2002 that Sascha, Gernot and Sebastian first met, and at the time, both Apparat and Modeselektor were well established in the Berlin music scene. Moderat debuted in 2003 with the Auf Kosten der Gesundheit EP, and then needed another six years to release the self-titled debut album. Following the rapturous response to their first album, Moderat released the soberly titled II in 2013. The album kicked off a frantic few years, with Sascha, Szary and Gernot touring the globe and each new Moderat single seemingly making a bigger impact than the last. A third album, III, was released in 2016, and after another intense spate of touring—not to mention the release of the band’s Live LP—the group announced that they would be taking an extended break following a final concert in their hometown of Berlin in September 2017 in front of 17.000 people. Five years later, Moderat have returned with a new album, MORE D4TA, and a new live show. Despite the long layoff—and the fact that the LP was largely created during a time when touring (and most traveling) was off the table—the record is quintessential Moderat. The son of a jazz trombone player, Boris Dlugosch established his own legacy as one of Europe's top DJs and producers. In addition to producing the remix hits "Keep Pushin'" in 1996 and "Hold Your Head Up High," the following year, Dlugosch has brought remix success to Moloko, Michael Watford, Edesio, Djaimin, DeMage, and the Jasper Street Co.. Dlugosch continued to DJ every Saturday night at Germany's premier house music club, the Front, where he launched his career in 1986. Oliver Koletzki is a producer and DJ in the genres of electronic dance, hip-hop, pop, and house. Studying music at the Humboldt University in Berlin and working as a composer for commercials, Koletzki self-released a white-label pressing of his techno track "Der Mückenschwarm," which was heard by Sven Väth, who signed Koletzki to his Cocoon label and re-released the cut. The song was then selected as the "track of the year" in a reader's poll by German magazine Groove in 2005 and later remixed by artists such as Dominik Eulberg and Pig & Dan. Koletzki founded his own label, Stil vor Talent, in September 2005. His first DJ mix CD, The Process, was released in 2006, followed by his proper debut album, Get Wasted, in 2007. His sophomore album, the Berlin-inspired Großstadtmärchen, was issued in 2009, followed by a pop-leaning collaboration album with singer Fran titled Lovestoned in 2010. Koletzki's third album, Großstadtmärchen 2, was released in 2012 and entered the German charts at number 19. In 2013, Stil vor Talent introduced a compilation series titled Schneeweiß. Nils Frahm is a German composer and musician whose work combines acoustic and electronic instruments with a primary focus on pianos and synthesizers. His recordings range from solo and prepared piano compositions to melodic synthesizer pieces, as well as soundtrack work. Frahm's debut LP, Streichelfisch, combining heavy electronic glitch with acoustic instruments, was released in 2005 on his AtelierMusik label. My First EP followed in 2006, and Electric Piano, marking Frahm's shift to piano-based works, arrived in 2008. Two more solo piano works, Wintermusik (on Sonic Pieces) and The Bells (on Kning Disc), were well received. Frahm began collaborating with many electronic and modern classical artists, including F.S. Blumm, Machinefabriek, Peter Broderick, and Anne Müller. The 2011 solo album Felt, featuring heavily atmospheric prepared piano compositions, arrived on Erased Tapes (home to most of Frahm's subsequent releases), along with the synthesizer-based single "Juno." The minimalist piano album Screws followed in 2012, and Frahm collaborated with Ólafur Arnalds on the Stare EP the same year. Juno Reworked, a 12" EP featuring both tracks from the "Juno" single as well as remixes by Luke Abbott and Clark, appeared in 2013. Spaces, a live album consisting of field recordings of Frahm's performances over the course of two years, appeared toward the end of 2013, and was his most acclaimed recording to date, receiving high praise from numerous publications. His 2015 album, Solo, was initially released for free on March 29, a day Frahm declared to be "World Piano Day." He composed his first film score for the German single-take film Victoria in 2015. Later that year, Frahm produced an eclectic mix as part of the Late Night Tales mix CD series. In early 2016, he revisited his Screws album with Screws Reworked, a selection of remixes from fans and fellow musicians, handpicked by Frahm himself. During the year, R&S released two albums by Nonkeen, an experimental trio consisting of Frahm and childhood friends Frederic Gmeiner and Sepp Singwald. Also during 2016, he released collaborations with Ólafur Arnalds (Trance Frendz), F.S. Blumm (Tag Eins Tag Zwei), and Woodkid (Ellis [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]). From their techy, trancey beginnings to their more mature post-millennial work that incorporated pop, ambient, electro, techno, and funk influences, Frankfurt, Germany house duo Booka Shade maintained an elegance of style that owed little to whatever current dance music trends were on the scene. However, before they were Booka Shade, Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger had an early-'90s synth pop duo called Planet Claire, which in the tradition of Underworld and Ministry, mutated into something very different after their early direction petered out following two mildly successful albums. Abandoning dance-pop in favor of heavier club beats, Kammermeier and Merziger released a number of underground dance tracks -- including the smash hit "Una Musica Senza Ritmo" under the Degeneration moniker -- before renaming their project Booka Shade and debuting with the 1995 single "Kind of Good." Another single, "Silk," was issued the following year, but the duo soon lost interest in formulaic club music and decided to reinvent themselves as movie soundtrack composers and pop producers for hire. This phase of their career lasted for a few years but turned out to be a thoroughly depressing experience, and eventually, in 2002, Kammermeier and Merziger moved to Berlin and started their own imprint, Get Physical, alongside M.A.N.D.Y. and DJ T. In 2004, feeling that they finally had complete musical freedom, Booka Shade released their first proper album as artists, Memento. Following two more club hits in 2005, "Mandarine Girl" and "Body Language" (in collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y.), they released their second album, Movements, in 2006. It was followed by a DJ-Kicks mix in 2007 and a pair of additional albums for Get Physical, 2008's The Sun & the Neon Light, and 2010's More!. For their fifth studio album, the duo went to Manchester, England and recorded in a proper studio -- a move that recharged their creativity. That album, Eve, was released in 2013. Throughout their career, Booka Shade also maintained a separate line in high-profile remixes, including work for the Juan MacLean ("Tito's Way"), Moby ("Dream About Me"), Hot Chip ("[Just Like We] Breakdown"), the Knife ("Marble House"), and Dave Gahan ("Kingdom"). The duo returned the following year with an EP, Line of Fire which featured vocal contributions from Karin Park. The pair reciprocated by remixing her track "Pandora Drive." In 2017, Booka Shade put out their sixth full-length effort, Galvany Street. The record's overall sonic palette was a return to the new wave sound that the duo had experimented with during some of their earlier projects and collaborations. ~ Stewart Mason
