Hï Ibiza will implement a strict no-phones policy during Damian Lazarus’ residency in the Club Room this summer. Starting on May 18th, the Crosstown Rebels founder will create a phone-free environment every Saturday, encouraging attendees to fully immerse themselves in the music and ambiance without digital distractions.
The policy is part of a unique atmosphere Lazarus aims to cultivate alongside Black Coffee, who will headline the Theatre. Lazarus emphasized the importance of this initiative on Instagram, highlighting the freedom and uninhibited enjoyment it brings: “From open to close, we take pride in creating a totally unique environment, centered around the mystical Temple. It’s a proper session where we lose our inhibitions and can enjoy a sense of freedom as we enforce our groundbreaking ‘No Phones’ policy inside the room.”
The residency will feature a series of captivating lineups, running through to the closing event on October 5th. Notable guest artists include Carl Craig, TSHA, Sicaria, HoneyLuv, Mathew Jonson, and Acid Pauli, with residents Meera, Tony Y Not, Cameron Jack, and Floyd Lavine handling opening duties.
Hï Ibiza, recently voted the No. 1 club in the world by DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs poll for 2024, is making waves with this policy, reflecting a broader trend in the clubbing world. Other notable residents for the 2024 season include Eric Prydz, Tale of Us, The Martinez Brothers, and Patrick Topping.
The move to ban phones on the dancefloor aligns with a growing sentiment among club-goers and venues globally. Similar policies have been adopted by clubs like Nowadays in New York and fabric and Fold in London. A 2018 survey revealed that 70% of clubbers dislike the use of phones on the dancefloor, supporting the trend towards creating more immersive and respectful clubbing experiences.
