Two years after Gordo and Drake’s collaborations became instant summer hits in 2022, they are ready to unveil more in Gordo’s debut album, “Diamante.” This introspective project, the result of over four years of work, marks a significant evolution in Gordo’s artistry. He officially retired his Carnage alias in May 2022.

“[Diamante is] the most emotional project I’ve worked on in my life,” Gordo shared. “It features contributions from artists I’ve admired and who inspire me, some I’ve known for years and others I’ve recently met.”

Gordo and Drake’s partnership has been pivotal in merging hip-hop with house music. Their collaboration first appeared on Drake’s dance-influenced album “Honestly, Nevermind,” with Gordo producing six tracks. This synergy continues on “Diamante,” which includes 16 tracks and high-profile features from T-Pain, Leon Bridges, Maluma, Fuerza Regida, and Keinemusik’s Rampa and &ME, among others.

“We’ve been friends for years but had never actually properly collaborated on music before ‘Honestly, Nevermind,'” Gordo said about his first official collaboration with Drake. “Having him on my debut album speaks volumes about what people can expect from it.”

Since adopting the Gordo alias, the “Taraka” producer has garnered several significant accolades in a short time, including a Grammy nomination and topping Billboard’s “Hot 100 Producers” chart. Fans can look forward to Gordo’s next milestone with the release of his debut album on July 26th.

“This album embodies all my different tastes and personalities, from what I listen to, to what I play live, who I am as an artist, but most importantly, who Diamante is,” he added. “It’s my most personal work to date and comes from a place of love and authenticity. Most of the album’s production was done at home in Hawaii. I would produce until 6 PM, then take a break, sit on my terrace, and watch the sunset while listening to the album and taking it all in. It’s an album you can listen to at home or at a 5 AM rave; it can be the pinnacle of your night or the perfect come-down after a long day. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on.”
