2021 has started in the best possible way for Armin van Buuren and for the staff working on the ASOT (A State Of Trance) project, the title of the radio program hosted every Thursday at 8pm by the Dutch DJ and producer.
In fact, from 14 to 21 January, 950 of the best trance tracks ever (chosen by listeners through a vote on astateoftrance.com) were streamed live on YouTube and Twitch channels, giving rise to a real countdown. Not only music but also exclusive interviews, anecdotes on the birth of many songs and videos made by fans have contributed to making the wait for episode number 1000 more enjoyable.
On January 21, being a special occasion, the live broadcast started at 5pm and, at that point, listeners were finally able to get to know the first 50 tracks of the A State Of Trance Top 1000. Here are the songs that won the podium:
1) Shivers (Armin van Buuren & Susana);
2) Adagio for strings (Tiesto);
3) Tuvan (GAIA).
At the end of episode number 1000, after having revealed the titles of the most listened tracks, Armin van Buuren announced the release of a compilation (A State Of Trance 1000 – Celebration Mix) available on Spotify in digital format or to be pre-ordered on the website in physical format. In addition, the DJ announced that the homonymous festival will be held in Utrecht on 3 and 4 September 2021, in the Jaarbeurs exhibition and congress center.
Although the situation remains unstable and uncertain due to Covid, the tickets sold out within a few hours both during the pre-sale on January 28 and during the global sale on the 30. These are positive and encouraging data for a sector that is struggling hard for a year now to keep as active as possible and not risk bankruptcy.
The two evenings will be organized as follows:
September 3
– A tribute for ASOT’s twenty years;
– A mix made by Armin van Buuren and other special guests with all the most significant tracks of the last twenty years.
September 4
– Celebrations for ASOT’s 1000th episode;
– Exhibition of young talents and legendary artists in the various areas of the congress palace for a truly unforgettable evening.
We like to think and hope that in September we will be back to normality again and that we can finally “turn the world into a dancefloor”.
