Pedro Sanmartin

Pedro Sanmartín also known as Basic Shape, was born in Barcelona in 1981. From an early age, he saw art and later music as a way of inhabiting the world. His background in Fine Arts naturally led him naturally in to music production and vinyl mixing, understood more as a craft than a performance. He began his DJ career in 2005 after immersing himself in Germany’s club culture, which he experienced less as a scene and more as a way of life. Since then, he has developed a refined, deep, and precise sound, moving fluidly between house, techno, and electro, exploring the subtle spaces few dare to touch. His productions have been released on labels such as Seven Villas, Everything Will Be Ok, Loot Recordings, Univack, Tronic, and Tenampa, gaining support from artists like Hernán Cattáneo, Pablo Bolívar, Christian Smith, and Danny Howells or Mark Slee Among others. In 2020, he released his debut album Unfolding Nature on Seven Villas, a record that favors simplicity and essence over cliché. Pedro has collaborated with Ibiza Global Radio, Ibiza Sonica, Deepersounds, and British Airways, and has performed at ADE, Electro Beach, and venues like Nitsa Club, Razzmatazz, Insomnia, and Culture Box, sharing lineups with Guy J, Rrose, Pablo Bolívar, and Nhar. A prolific producer and DJ, Pedro has forged his own voice within the electronic landscape: a deep, emotive, and hypnotic form of house, techno, and electro that values patience, depth, and slow revelation over spectacle.
