(Growling Mad Scientists) is one of the living legends of global psytrance. Founded in the 1990s by Shajahan Matkin, also known as Riktam, and Joseph Quinteros, also known as Bansi, the project pioneered a modern, energetic, and innovative psychedelic sound that shaped the genre as we know it today. With roots in the underground scenes of Goa and Ibiza, GMS expanded boundaries and influenced generations of producers around the world.
Creators of era-defining anthems, their music has a true sonic journey, filled with hypnotic grooves, psychedelic layers, and an unmistakable signature. The duo achieved meteoric success, selling over 350,000 copies worldwide, across more than 150 releases, with 8 albums and 10 compilations throughout their career. Furthermore, GMS caught the attention of the Hollywood film industry, having their tracks used on the soundtracks of acclaimed films such as “Man on Fire” (with Denzel Washington), “Domino” (with Keira Knightley), and “Unstoppable” (with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine), from the renowned British director of “Top Gun”, Tony Scott.
Riktam and Bansi have also collaborated on other psytrance projects, navigating the full-on subgenre, such as Zorba, (with & Chicago), (with ), and, most recently, (with ).
