On New Year’s Eve in Rio de Janeiro, electronic music once again operated beyond traditional boundaries. At Copacabana Beach, Alok delivered a large-scale performance combining music, aerial drone choreography and city-level infrastructure, transforming the shoreline into a temporary cultural stage.

The show featured a synchronized fleet of 1,250 drones, one of the largest deployments of its kind ever seen in Latin America. Throughout the performance, the drones projected symbolic imagery into the night sky, including the Christ the Redeemer statue rising from the sea, Sugarloaf Mountain, the word “Rio” accompanied by a red heart, and a “Happy 2026” message. The visuals framed the set not as a club performance, but as a public ritual.

According to the City of Rio de Janeiro, approximately 2.6 million people gathered in Copacabana alone, while overall New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city reached an estimated 5.1 million attendees, including residents and international visitors. Amapiano takes the spotlight at the ADE Opening Concert

For the ninth year in a row, the Metropole Orkest and Melkweg joined forces for the ADE Opening Concert, this time featuring South African powerhouse DBN Gogo.
The show was a stunning tribute to Amapiano, the genre that’s reshaping the global sound of dance music with its deep grooves, jazzy chords, and irresistible swing.

Known for her high-energy sets and bold musical vision, DBN Gogo delivered a performance that bridged continents — bringing the spirit of Johannesburg to the heart of Amsterdam. Her set was more than a show: it was a celebration of culture, rhythm, and identity, inspiring a new generation of female DJs and producers worldwide.

Raw energy and avant-garde techno at “12 15 6 9” by Numéro & TGIB

At Lofi, Numéro Netherlands and The Gang Is Beautiful curated a night that felt like the underground pulse of ADE — dark, raw, and beautifully intense.

Techno legend Richie Hawtin headlined the main floor with his signature minimalist precision, proving once again why his name remains synonymous with innovation.
Alongside him, MARRØN brought his unmistakable Afro-futurist rhythm to the room, while Polygonia hypnotized the crowd with deep, organic techno textures. Jeans closed the lineup with a sharp, forward-thinking energy that kept the crowd locked in.

Upstairs, TGIB’s Colorfloor offered a burst of color and attitude, featuring Olivia Mendez, Prance, and Joya Astou — three fearless selectors embodying the new wave of club culture.

Dual-Room Magic: Terrace vs Main Room

Every Sunday, the Terrace pulses with hypnotic house, minimal tech, melodic techno, while the Main Room delves into darker and more stripped-down techno. It’s an uncompromising sonic journey and a sanctuary for true clubbers.

This summer, Pyramid’s mission to amplify new voices has been impossible to miss. Standout performances came from techno innovators U.R.Trax and Anika Kunst, the slick minimal grooves of Chris Stussy and Josh Baker, and the high-energy pop-club spirit of Bubble Love (Ross From Friends). Rising names like Monile, Juaan and Palms Trax have also left their mark, cementing Pyramid’s reputation as a breeding ground for next-gen talent.

“We’re not here to follow trends. They come and go, but what really matters to us is creating nights for the clubbers, starting with the music and the vibe,” the team behind Pyramid explains.

Equally important is Pyramid’s ongoing commitment to female talent. This season has proudly featured some of the most vital women in the electronic scene, from Nina Kraviz and Deborah De Luca to Amelie Lens, Sonja Moonear, Cera Khin, and Alexandria. Amnesia, established in 1976, is one of Ibiza’s original superclubs. It began as a haven for hippies, bohemians, and hedonists seeking freedom and eclectic music. The club’s open-air terrace was legendary for parties that lasted for days, becoming iconic in Ibiza’s nightlife history.
Pyramid, conceptualized by the Amnesia team, debuted in 2018 with a mission to bring back the essence of old Ibiza parties, focusing purely on music and experience rather than commercialism. The latest batch of performances from Tomorrowland’s flagship Belgian festival, which concluded on Sunday, July 28th, has been uploaded to the festival’s YouTube channel. Highlights include Swedish House Mafia’s first group set at Tomorrowland in 14 years, Armin Van Buuren with guest Rob Swire, Alok’s set during which he filmed the music video for ‘Allein Allein‘, Hardwell’s EDM classics performance, and Don Diablo’s debut of new collaborations with Robbie Williams, Jamiroquai, and Sandro Cavazza.

Additional notable sets include NERVO, Solomun back-to-back with Four Tet, Indira Paganotto, Agents Of Time, ANNA, Eliza Rose, Sub Focus, Mathame, Krystal Klear, and many more.

Unique moments at the festival included Dimitri Vegas’ surprise vinyl-only set at The Gathering stage and his collaboration with Like Mike and Bassjackers on a rework of Crazy Frog’s ‘Axel F’. Oliver Heldens paid tribute to Avicii during his Mainstage set, and Shaq introduced his son Myles O’Neal during his DJ DIESEL set to debut their duo, O’Neal Boyz. As part of the Tomorrowland Academy initiative, 9-year-old DJ Archie became the youngest performer in Tomorrowland history with his opening set at the Atmosphere stage.

As part of Tomorrowland’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, the festival is revisiting themes like Elixir Of Life, the Story Of Planaxis, and the Secret Kingdom Of Melodia, and planning an orchestral event at Amsterdam’s Ziggodome this October.
