24 October 2024

Ultra Miami is celebrating a quarter-century of groundbreaking performances and unforgettable moments with a special documentary series. Launched in October 2024, this 25-part series takes fans on a journey through the festival’s rich history, showcasing its rise to becoming one of the most influential electronic music festivals in the world. The series, titled “Open the Gates,” premiered on YouTube on October 7th and promises to relive the festival’s most iconic performances, artists, and behind-the-scenes moments.

Each episode offers a unique perspective on Ultra Miami’s past. The second episode, “That First Ultra,” features interviews with legendary DJs like Hardwell and Oliver Heldens, who share their earliest memories of performing at the festival. Another standout episode, “All Eyes On You,” provides a behind-the-scenes look at the intense preparation W&W undergoes before stepping onto the Ultra stage, capturing the pressures that come with performing at such a massive event.

The festival will release a new episode every Monday, counting down the 25 weeks leading up to Ultra Miami 2025. The 2025 edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from March 28th to 30th at Bayfront Park in Miami, where it has become a fixture in the global electronic music scene. This year’s series gives both longtime fans and newcomers a chance to experience the festival’s evolution, from its early days to its current status as a must-attend event for electronic music lovers.

Founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, Ultra Miami began on Miami Beach and quickly grew into a global brand, known for its high-energy sets, cutting-edge technology, and immersive stage designs. To mark its 25th anniversary, Ultra has already announced a star-studded lineup for its 2025 edition, with headlining performances by Above & Beyond and Axwell, who will be making his solo headlining debut. Other big names include Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer, Boris Brejcha, Miss Monique, and a unique back-to-back set from Anyma and Solomun, as well as the first-ever deadmau5 b2b Pendulum DJ set.

Ultra Miami 2024 faced some challenges earlier this year when severe weather caused the Friday edition to shut down early, but the festival recovered and proceeded as scheduled for the remainder of the weekend. In addition to the documentary series, fans were treated to new music from Hardwell, who released “Move,” the opening track from his Ultra Miami 2024 set, further fueling excitement for the festival’s future.

With its 25th-anniversary celebration in full swing, Ultra Miami continues to be a beacon of innovation and excitement in the electronic music world. Keep an eye on YouTube for the latest episodes of the documentary series, with new releases dropping every Monday as the countdown to Ultra Miami 2025 begins.
